Notes from the enablement work

Short, practical pieces on what actually makes adoption stick inside small organisations.

01
Adoption

Why AI pilots stall at 30% adoption

4 minute read

Most teams buy the tool before they define the job. Three months later a third of the team uses it daily, the rest quietly went back to the old way, and leadership concludes AI 'didn't work here'.

Adoption is a system, not a licence. It needs a named use case per role, content people can actually reuse, a visible champion, and a number you check every month. When those four exist, the same tool that stalled at 30% lands above 80%.

Skills

A skills matrix that survives the future of work

4 minute read

A skills matrix goes stale the moment it lists tools instead of capabilities. 'Can use the CRM' expires; 'can qualify and prioritise a pipeline' does not.

Write capabilities at the level of the outcome, map each to two or three observable behaviours, then note which of those a person can already do unsupervised. That is a matrix you can re-score in an afternoon and use for hiring, development and succession.

Measurement

Measuring competency when half your team is remote

4 minute read

Attendance is not competency, and a completion certificate is not evidence. For hybrid learners you need proof of work: a task performed, reviewed once, and re-checked after 30 days.

Keep it light — one short assessment per capability, scored by a peer or lead, recorded in one place everyone can see. Boards trust a trend line far more than a training spend.
